New Napa Jail does not have Winery

After a tour of Napa’s new correctional facility, some officials were surprised by the lack of grape fermenting equipment and oak barrels. “We had a nice look around and certainly it is impressive and is much better than the aging jail, but the question still bugs me. Why is there no winery?” says Glenda Parsons, of the Assessor’s office.

The $133 million facility will house more prisoners who will not be racking barrels, sterilizing tanks or polishing bottling line equipment.
